Who is the Intermittent Critic?

Hi!  I’m Sean, a nerdy Canadian out of Vancouver, Canada.  I like movies, TV, video games, books, and an awful lot more geeky stuff than is strictly healthy for a man my age.

I’m a husband, a father, and many other things that would also brand me a know-it-all.  I grew up steeped in the 80’s, but I’m giddy with all the stuff that’s out there for geeks today!

I’m a former co-editor and writer with Mutant Reviewers (where I wrote under the name PoolMan), and I love a good chance to share my feelings about all the great nerd media that’s out there today.  I just get feeling guilty constantly ranting about stuff on my Facebook feed, y’know?  Really, my aunt doesn’t need to know what I think of the MCU that badly.

What the Intermittent Critic Offers… and Doesn’t

If you want hard hitting, up-to-the-minute critique of today’s movies and TV… maybe go elsewhere.

I’m in this to explore the stuff I love, and I don’t much care how old it is.  I will absolutely cover the new stuff, sure, but only as time allows.  If you really need a reviewer to tell you if the newest Spider Man movie is worth your $15, there’s lots of people out there who can help you with that.

No, what I’m interested in is whatever crosses my field of vision.  That could be the newest stuff out there, but it’s far more likely I’ll be jumping up and down about whatever has caught my eye last, or some great thing one of my brothers reminded of that I haven’t thought about in twenty years.  That’s where you’re going to get mileage with me!

That’s not to say I’ll never be up to date on the goings-on of nerd culture.  I’m usually there on opening weekend for Marvel movies, or Star Wars, mostly owing to the fact that I’m an enormous spoiler-phobe.

So… Why “Intermittent”?

For the foreseeable future, I won’t be updating on a regular schedule. This is meant to be a hobby project, which means I’m in it for my own enjoyment, not to add another tightly scheduled entry on my calendar every week.

However, that may change.  Stay tuned, and maybe we’ll both be surprised!
